Tibetan Buddhism and Iconography
Friday, November 12, 2010, 2PM - 3PMProfessional John Paul
What can a sculpture reveal about a religion? Join us as Professional Paul discusses how Indian and Tibetan bronzes sculptures - on display for the first time in the Museum - illuminate Tibet's importance to the spread of Buddhism from India to China. Topics will include how the sculptures were used, the role of the Dali Llama, and stylistic influences of other oriental cultures. Time for questions-and-answer and samplings of oriental foods will follow the lecture.
Pre-registration required. $5M, $12NM (this price includes the cost of Museum admission).
